Troymet to Commence Winter Exploration Program at McClarty Lake VMS Project

January 9, 2008 - Troymet Exploration Corp. (TSXV:TYE) (the “Company”) is pleased to announce the start of its winter exploration program on the McClarty Lake project, located 47 kilometres southwest of Snow Lake, Manitoba. A detailed helicopter-borne VTEM survey is scheduled to be flown over the property in January and diamond drilling is planned to commence in early February.

Troymet’s 2007 discovery of zinc-rich volcanogenic massive sulphide (VMS) mineralization at McClarty Lake represents a new discovery in a significantly under-explored area. The property is located approximately 24 kilometres southeast of the VMS Ventures Inc.’s Reed Lake discovery and approximately 45 kilometres south-southeast of HudBay Minerals Inc.’s Lalor Lake discovery.

The mineralization at McClarty is associated with a minimum 600-metre long, north-trending electromagnetic (EM) conductor. Drilling in 2007 intersected semi-massive to massive sulphides in four of five holes over a 475-metre strike length of the conductor system (Reference: September 26, 2007 news release). Drill hole SIG-02-07 returned the best intersection of 2.94% zinc and 0.17% copper over 7.45 metres; including 4.78% zinc over 2.71 metres. Drilling approximately 225 metres to the north of SIG-02-07 intersected precious metal mineralization and anomalous base metal values in semi-massive to massive sulphides. The best precious metal intersection was 4.17 g/t gold and 8.48 g/t silver over 4.0 metres in drill hole DYC016. The 225-metre strike length between these holes remains untested.

Troymet has contracted GEOTECH Ltd. to conduct a detailed helicopter-borne VTEM survey over the property. Characteristics of the VTEM system include deep penetration, detection of weak anomalies and excellent spatial resolution of conductors. The objective of the VTEM survey is to fully define the extent of the +600-metre long conductor system associated with the VMS mineralization, and to test for the presence of other conductors which may also have associated VMS mineralization. A significant drilling program is planned to delineate the McClarty VMS discovery and to test any new targets identified by the VTEM survey.

The McClarty Lake property comprises five contiguous mineral claims totalling 596 hectares. Troymet owns 100% of three of the claims staked in 2000 and holds an option to obtain a 60% interest in two claims (252 hectares) from Hudson Bay Exploration and Development (HBED).
